The country has centuries-old traditions of higher education. The first university in Russia was founded in 1687 and called the Slavonic, Greek, and Latin Academy. The renowned Moscow State University was established by Mikhail Lomonosov in 1755. Since then, many universities have appeared throughout Russia – from Vladivostok to Kaliningrad. Russia has given the world a multitude of outstanding intellectuals who have made great discoveries and inventions, and over 40 of them have been awarded the Nobel Prize. SCHOLARSHIPS

 

Annually, the Russian government allocates a certain number of state-funded places at Russian universities for international students (for example, 15,000 state-funded places were allocated in 2015).

 

International students (university graduates) who are completing internships in programmes of additional vocational education (professional training or career advancement) do not receive a maintenance allowance, but do receive accommodation in the dormitory of their university.

TUITION FEES

The tuition fee at Russian universities varies from RUB 65,000 to 350,000 per year depending on the region, university, and discipline.

 

 

 

LIVING COSTS

A student in Russia needs USD 300 to 400 per month on average or USD 3,000 to 4,000 per academic year (September to June).

It's better to start with a further USD 300 to 400 for extra expenses like medical insurance, living arrangements in an apartment or dormitory (buying dishes, bed linen, detergents etc.), and to purchase books.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

Under Graduate

A. Academic
1. At least 12 years of education (HSC equivalent). GPA score should be 3.5 or above.

B. Language Proficiency
1.In Russia, the medium of instruction is Russian language.
2. So, a compulsory pre-academic language of education is needed to study in Russia.
3. IELTS course of 5.5 is enough to secure admission for English medium courses.

C. Course Length
1. Bachelor's Degree: Normally requires 4 to 5 years of full-time study.

 

Graduate

A. Academic
1. You must have had 16 years of education. CGPA should be 3 or above.

B. Language Proficiency
1. In Russia, the medium of instruction is Russian language.
2. So, a compulsory pre-academic language of education is needed to study in Russia.
3. IELTS course of 5.5 is enough to secure admission for English medium courses.

C. Course Length
1. Master's Degree: Normally requires 2 years of full-time study.
2. Doctoral Degree: Normally requires 3 to 4 years of full-time study.
